Stock Market Basics: After Market Orders

In this session on stock market basics, we will get to learn how to trade beyond business hours.

There are many people like me who don’t get to participate during the market hours. The stock market opens at 9:30 am and closes at 3:45 pm. Now, if you are a jobber, then you may find it difficult to place your orders, buy or sell or even trade.

For such people who still want to benefit from the world of equities, they have an option. The option is AMO!

AMO stands for after market orders. It means that you can place your orders even after the markets are closed.

As we are learning to trade using the sbi securities, let’s learn what’s the window given to such people to place the order beyond business hours.

After market orders may be placed by the enthusiastic stock market investors between 9:30 pm and 9:00 am and between 9:07 am and 9:15 am.

Now, let’s learn how to place the oder under AMO.

AMO option will be activated on your demat account during the designated hours. So, if you login and check for the AMO during those hours, you will be able to place the AMO order.

What’s the benefit of placing AMO orders?

You can get the benefit of investing into stock markets. I am basically a value investor. And a value investor is not bothered by the daily fluctuations of the market. He is just concerned with the buying of the stocks and keeping them in the kitty.
