4 BASIC SERVICES NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR SBI CUSTOMERS

So, these are the most basic of all services for which the SBI has done a wonderful job.

Now, you need not go to the branch and stand in queue for long hours. Or spend your precious time and car petrol to be just doing these 4 basic services that can be done online now.

So, let me list them here for your perusal:

  1. Submission of 15G/H Forms
  2. Transfer of Savings Account
  3. Obtaining Home Loan Interest Certificate
  4. Debit Card related Services

SUBMISSION OF 15G/H Forms:

The submission of 15G/H forms is done by those who wish to get exemption from paying TDS on the interest income.

Interest Income is the interest that you earn on your Deposit accounts. Deposit Accounts are those account that lock your money for a certain fixed term like days or months or years.

In Banks, the interest income includes the income that you earn on your Fixed Deposits and Recurring Deposits. Your Savings Account and Small Savings Accounts like Sukanya Samridhi Account and Public Provident Fund Account are out of the purview.

TRANSFER OF SAVINGS ACCOUNT

You may now transfer your Savings Account from one SBI branch to another SBI branch anywhere in India without visiting the branch.

Many account holders face the issue of getting their accounts transferred to their respective places after they have moved. With an online option, you may simply login to your account online and have your account transferred. So simple!

And your account reflects the new branch code within seconds. You can look up the branch code of any branch using the SBI branch locator below:

There are few exceptions to transfer the Savings Account. For example, if the account is joint, then you need to visit in person or contact them via email.

HOME LOAN INTEREST CERTIFICATE

You can now obtain your Home Loan Interest Certificate using the online option.

We need this certificate to claim Income Tax rebate and exemptions. So, it comes in handy and you can download the form in the PDF format and share it with anyone.

Otherwise, we need to visit the branch and the process of obtaining a simple one-page certificate becomes such a cumbersome process.

DEBIT CARD RELATED SERVICES

SBI has stopped sending the PIN of your Debit Card in the mail. So, you need to create it on your own using the OTP and the ATM options.

But, with an online option, creating your Debit Card PIN has become a child’s play.

The other Debit Card related services that are available online are:

  1. Blocking of ATM Card: In case you lose your Debit Card, you can immediately block your card from any unauthorized usage.
  2. ATM card limit and Channel Usage: You can change the limit on your card. It means that you can set a limit on how much can be used using the ATM card. For example, you want to restrict the usage to Rs. 50000/-, it will be restricted to this amount.
  3. New Card Activation
  4. New or Replacement Card Request
